RICHARD GAY
Richard Gay is the CEO and Founder of 5Pack Entertainment, LLC. 5Pack Entertainment represents the culmination of Mr. Gay’s 12 years as a Partner in the Media and Entertainment Practice of one of the world’s leading consulting firms, Booz Allen & Hamilton, and his subsequent 13 years in the COO role at multiple brands at Viacom (now Paramount).
5Pack’s primary areas of focus producing content and consulting leading media and entertainment organizations of multiple sizes and across different platforms. Recent producing activities include Broadway-bound Soul Train Musical, Juneteenth: A Global Celebration of Freedom which was broadcast globally on CNN in 2022 and 2023 and Prince: The Immersive Experience. Recent 5Pack consulting clients include Live Nation Urban, Superfly, The Apollo Theater and Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Prior to founding 5Pack Entertainment, Mr. Gay served as the Executive Vice President of BET Networks and the General Manager of BET Networks’ portfolio brands, including the BET Experience, Soul Train, BET Jams, BET Gospel and BET Soul. Prior to joining BETN, Mr. Gay spent over a decade working in Viacom’s Music Group, working at MTV, Vh1 and CMT, with centralized Viacom groups (Ad Sales, Content, Distribution and Marketing, BALA, Finance, etc.), and with outside partners to help the Music Group and the individual brands to achieve their strategic, operational, and financial goals.
Prior to joining Viacom, Mr. Gay was a Partner at Booz Allen Hamilton, working in the firm’s Global Communications, Media and Entertainment and Technology Practice. Mr. Gay worked across a broad range of media and entertainment sectors and in a variety of media-related industries. In 2000, the same year that he was elected to Booz Allen’s Partnership, Mr. Gay was awarded Booz Allen’s Professional Excellence Award, the firm’s highest award for professional achievement, for the firm’s strategy and complete re-design of MTV.
Mr. Gay received his B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his M.B.A from Stanford University.
Mr. Gay is very active in the community, serving on several Boards, including Weil Cornell Medicine Center and the USATF Foundation.
Mr. Gay resides in New Rochelle, New York. He and his wife have five children -- Charles (a first-year Wharton MBA student), triplets Elyse, Lauren and Lyndon and Dolan.
